Caribbean Premier League is a challenging cricket tournament for batsmen who need to be at their best to score maximum runs in the league. CPL is an annual event and the competitive nature of the T20 format makes it a popular cricket series for fans around the world. The six franchises of CPL have produced some exceptionally talented batsmen from West Indies and overseas who have performed quite well for their teams. Listed below are the top players with the most runs in CPL history who have made their franchise proud of their achievements:

Colin Munro

Colin Munro holds the distinction of scoring the most runs in CPL history. The right-handed batsman has scored 567 runs in thirteen innings of different seasons of the Caribbean Premier League by playing for Trinbago Knight Riders. Munro bats at number three for the Trinbago Knight Riders team franchise and his stellar performance in every season has been appreciated by cricket fans all over the world. Colin

 Munro’s six half-centuries in the 2018 CPL made him the highest scorer of the season and his ratings dramatically shot up in the tournament. His brand value has increased with every CPL season and Trinbago Knight Riders player have paid a hefty price to retain him for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League 2021.   

Brandon King

Brandon King is second on the list of top scorers of the Caribbean Premier League who has been able to score big totals during different seasons of the league with his orthodox style of batting. Brandon has played all his CPL tournaments for the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise and has been their mainstay in every season. Brandon’s style of batting has improved over the years and his best scoring season has been 2019 when he scored 496 runs. The right-handed batsman gave a terrific performance that year with a strike rate of 148.94.

 

Chadwick Walton

Chadwick Walton has proved to be a prolific all-rounder for Guyana Amazon Warriors in every season of the Caribbean Premier League. The top-order right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper scored 458 runs at an average of 41.63 in the 2017 season of CPL while playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors team franchise. His destructive strike rate of 145.85 decimated the bowling attack of the opponent bowlers as he hit 24 sixes in one season and smashed three half-centuries.   

Glen Phillips

The New Zealander Glenn Phillips rose to fame in the Caribbean Premier League with his stellar batting performance and that got him the berth in the international team of his home country. A stalwart of the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise in every season, Glen Phillips has shown consistency in batting during every CPL tournament and his best season by far has been 2018 when he scored 457 runs. He made a century and two half-centuries that included 29 sixes at the strike rate of 146.94 and an average of 41.54 in that single season.

Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn has been one of the underrated players of the Caribbean Premier League as his batting skills have not been properly exploited by most of the CPL franchises. Lynn’s best performance came in the 2016 season of CPL while playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors when he smashed 454 runs with a strike rate of 133.33. The aggressive right-handed batsman’s swashbuckling form was applauded by cricket fans all over the world as he smashed 27 sixes in 12 innings.

  Lendl Simmons 

Lendl Simmons has earned the distinction of one of the most consistent batsmen amongst CPL players as he has managed a decent score in every season. During the 2014 season of the Caribbean Premier League, Simmons hit 446 runs while playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise. His batting prowess included four half-centuries in that season with an average of 49.55. he is not a big hitter but has been consistent for every franchise he has been part of.

Johnson Charles

Johnson Charles is known as a basher with a penchant to hit long boundaries. His best CPL season turned out to be 2016 for the St Lucia Zouks franchise when the right-handed batsman hit 441 runs from 11 innings at an average of 44.10. He smashed four half-centuries during the tournament with 22 sixes at the strike rate of 143.18.
