List of Exams Conducted By UPSC

The applicant must be at least 21 years old and not older than 32 years for members of the general category and the economically weaker section and 37 years for members of the SC/ST. OBC applicants may receive a maximum three-year extension, while SC/ST candidates may receive a maximum five-year extension.

Engineering Services Examination (ESE)

The UPSC conducts the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) in a total of three phases to select candidates for the Indian Engineering Services to fill open positions in the Indian government’s bureaucracy (UPSC). 

Many applicants submit applications for this exam, and the Union Government chooses the IES Officers based on the Union Public Service Commission’s recommendation (UPSC).

 To take the Engineering Services Examination, one must be an engineering graduate. The candidate must be at a minimum of 21 years old and cannot be older than 30. OBC applicants may receive a maximum three-year extension, whereas SC/ST candidates may receive a five-year extension.

Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE)

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the “Combined Medical Services” Examination, often known as the CMS Exam, to hire medical officers for various government of India-affiliated enterprises, including the Indian Railways, the Indian Ordnance Factories, and others. After a discussion with the Union Public Service Commission, candidates who pass the written test are hired (UPSC).

The candidate must pass both the written and practical MBBS exams. If they don’t have any backlogs, individuals taking the MBBS examination in their final year are also eligible to apply. Only those applicants who pass the computer-based exam will be commissioned.

A candidate seeking a rotating internship is qualified to take the exam; however, the individual can only be hired after completing the required rotating internship. A candidate for the CMS Examination must not be older than 32 years old. In some circumstances, the highest restriction can be relaxed. Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS)

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) twice a year to select applicants for the Indian Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Military Academy, and Officers Training. Candidates who pass the exam are hired into the appropriate academies following an interview with the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Central Armed Police Forces Exam

The Central Armed Police Forces Exam is held by the UPSC to select candidates for the Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Border Security Force (BSF) (SSB). 

The candidate must be at least 20 years old and cannot be older than 25 years old. For OBC, the exception period is three years; for SC/ST, it is five years.

Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam (SCRA)

The UPSC holds the Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam (SCRA) to select Special Class Apprentices to enrol in the undergraduate mechanical engineering program at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. There are two parts to the hiring process: a written test and an in-person interview. After the written test, those who pass the interview are hired as SCRAs by the Indian Railways.

Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners

Every year, the UPSC holds the test for the position of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner. The task of accounting, collection, prosecution, administration, cash, legal, computer, and pension, which includes statutory and administrative obligations, is handled by APFCs.

Additionally, APFCs carry out investigations, assist with claim settlement, maintain Cash Books, Reconcile Bank Statements, and file MIS forms.
